Friday is movie night in Hillsboro

Staff writer

Families can enjoy the experience of an old-fashioned drive-in movie at 8 p.m. Friday at Midway Motors in Hillsboro.

The Friday show, “Finding Dory,” is free to attend. If attendance is good, Midway will host additional movies every other month while weather remains warm.

Moviegoers will be able to listen through their cars’ FM radio, and chairs and blankets can be brought to sit in the front. Children must be accompanied by adults.

Manager Zeth Thornhill said a Hutchinson employee brought over the suggestion, and he thought it was an opportunity to show Midway Motors as more than simply a business. The car dealership also wanted to reach out to the community.

Seeing a drive-in movie has become a hard-to-find treat as drive-in theaters dwindle in Kansas.

Others in the state include Kanopolis Drive-in, Boulevard Drive-In Theatre in Kansas City, and Midway Drive in Theater in Paola.
