Gary Carroll

Former Florence resident Gary G. Carroll, 78, died Monday at the Kansas Masonic Home, Wichita. 

A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence. 

He was born Nov. 12, 1938, to William “Red” and Pauline (Bishop) Carroll in Salina. 

He was a 1956 graduate of Florence High School, and served in the United States Air Force.

He worked for Western Electric for over 20 years, then for Alcatel in Texas. 

He was a Shriner and a member of the VFW and American Legion. 

He is survived by his wife Mary (Grimes) Carroll of Rockwall, Texas; children, Mike Carroll and Patty Putter, both of Marion, and Heather Mueller of Newton; stepchildren, Rodney Wolfe of Quinlan, Texas, Betty Bond of Rockwall, Texas, and Karen Terrell of Allen, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. 

A memorial has been established for the (Florence) Advance Lodge #114 AF & AM, in care of the funeral home.
