Temperatures aren’t the only things that have been falling of late.

The average price for a gallon of gasoline in Kansas fell 2.4 cents last week, according to a survey of 1,329 stations by the mobile app GasBuddy.

Diesel fuel fell 2.1 cents per gallon.

GasBuddy listed the average gasoline price in Kansas at $2.61, down 10.4 cents from a month ago and 43.5 cents from a year ago.

Nationwide, diesel fuel cost an average of $3.87 per gallon.

According to GasBuddy, the cheapest gas in Kansas was priced at $2.09 while the most expensive was $3.79.

Gas averaged $2.62 in the Wichita area and $2.54 in the Topeka area.

In Marion County, prices charged Monday ranged from $2.50 at Dollar General in Hillsboro and Mid-Kansas Cooperative in Peabody to $2.59 at Casey’s General Store in Marion and Hillsboro. In the middle was Durham Station at $2.56.

For on-road diesel fuel, prices ranged from $3.20 at Dollar General in Hillsboro to $3.59 at Agri Trails and Durham Station.

In the middle were prices of $3.23 at Mid-Kansas and $3.54 at Casey’s.

Nationwide, the average price per gallon on unleaded gasoline was $3.03, according to data compiled from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering more than 150,000 stations.

Historically, gas prices in Kansas averaged $3.04 on Jan. 22 in 2023.

They were $3.05 in 2022, $2.18 in 2021, $2.39 in 2020, $1.98 in 2019, $2.37 in 2018, $2.18 in 2017, $1.61 in 2016, $1.83 in 2015, and $3.11 in 2014.
