Georgia Higgins

Georgia L. Higgins, 88, of El Dorado began life March 30, 1930, in Marion, a daughter of William and Rachael Weber Christensen.

A graduate of Marion High School, Georgia was united in marriage to Billy Dan Higgins on March 20, 1949, in Marion.

She worked as a nursing assistant for Dr. White’s medical clinic in El Dorado for many years and was an active and faithful member of First Christian Church and the church’s Ladies Circle. She helped prepare many fellowship dinners at the church.

Georgia enjoyed her two card clubs and traveling. She also enjoyed being able to sponsor the OK Kids Day fishing derby since 2004.

Georgia’s greatest joy was her family, which includes her four sons, Jerry (and wife, Shari) Higgins of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Tom (and wife, Diana) Higgins of Emporia; Rocky (and wife, Kate) Higgins of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; and Tracy (and wife, Michelle) Higgins of El Dorado.

Other family members include grandchildren Brandon (and wife, Terresa) Higgins, Amanda (and husband, Chris) Karch, Bree (and husband, Josh) Lawrence, Heather (and husband, Shawn) Hickey, Nichole (and husband, Chad) James, Adam Higgins, Kyle Higgins, Kori (and husband, Tony) Bock, Zach (and wife, Brittany) Higgins, Tiffany Hiebert, Michael (and wife, Heather) Higgins, Derek (and wife, Kara) Higgins and Rachel Higgins; 20 great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Eugene Christensen and Mary Hett.

Georgia passed away on Monday Dec. 17, 2018, at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Georgia’s family was to gather with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 21 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. Her funeral, led by Pastor Stan Seymour, was to be at 11 a.m. Dec. 22 at First Christian Church. She was to be laid to rest in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
