Goessel High School senior Aspen Frey will head to the state track and field championships Friday and Saturday in Wichita in three individual events and a relay. With her best throw of the season in javelin May 17 in Sublette, Frey placed third at the regional meet, finished second in the 1600-meter run, and then claimed first place in the 3200-meter run, winning by 13 seconds.

Teammate Brittny Czarnowsky finished fourth in the 3200 and will accompany Frey at the state meet. Kendra Flaming will join her teammates by placing second in the 400.

Tia Goertzen finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles.
