The weather was cool for the spectators, but great for the cross-country runners as seven of Goessel’s boys set personal bests for the season.
Heath Goertzen and Nathan Czarnowsky were able to break the 20-minute barrier with times of 19 minutes, 36 seconds and 19:53 respectively. Ben Wiens crossed the finish line at 21:00, Grant Flaming was fifteen seconds behind Weins, Jake Herrel came in at 21:23, and Dan Smucker finished at 21:50.
Only Goertzen and Flaming have had faster times this season.
“The boys did very well,” said Coach Birdsell. “This was an open but challenging course.”
In the JV race Aaron Woelk, Dane Kruger, and Garret Woelk finished in that order for the Bluebirds with all of them running their fastest times of the season.
Goessel ran Tuesday at Southeast of Saline and will run Thursday at Marion.
