The top-five finishers for the Bluebird Boys cross-country team all set personal records for this season. The Bluebirds competed Thursday in the Berean Academy meet held at the Harvey County East Park.
Because it was near 80 degrees the north breeze was welcomed, even though it was blowing over 20 miles per hour.
Heath Goertzen (18 minutes, 44 seconds) finished as the leader among the Goessel bunch followed by Nathan Czarnowsky, Ben Wiens, Grant Flaming and Dan Smucker.
In the girls’ race, Brittny Czarnowsky earned the 20th medal, finishing in 18:46.
Coach Birdsell commented, “The competition was very strong, but Goessel runners represented themselves very well.”
The Bluebirds will race Thursday at Harvey County West Park. The meet is hosted by Burrton.
