GHS scientists excel at state fair

Goessel Junior and Senior High School students competed Friday at the second annual Kansas State Science and Engineering Fair at Friends University of Wichita.

Two GHS students earned medals at the competition. Freshman Stephan Goertzen won a gold medal and the Innovative Engineer Award from the National Society of Professional Engineers.

Senior Anthony Esau earned a silver medal and $1,000 scholarship to Friends University.

In the fourth through eighth grade division, Goessel had six medalists. Ben Wiens, Grant Flaming, and Kevin Moon earned gold; Keenan Stultz and Reece Hiebert, silver; and Heath Goertzen, bronze.
