Gilbert Michael Smith, 76, retired Iowa Beef Processors butcher, died April 14.
Gilbert was born Sept. 20, 1934, in Douglass, to Carl and Bernadine (Ellis) Smith. He graduated from North High in Wichita and served in the U.S. Army.
Gilbert owned and operated Smiths Mister AG in Lincolnville, and worked for Excel Plant, Triple S Meats, and Tweco Construction in Wichita, Vogt’s IGA in Hillsboro, and Fanestil Meats and IBP both in Emporia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Wayne and Grover.
Survivors include four sons Stephen of Bel Aire, Eldon of Lincolnville, David of Dickinson, Texas, and Bryan of Snellville, Ga.; two daughters, Dianne Smethers of Gardner and Janice of McKinney, Texas; a sister, Wilma Balay of Denver, Colo.; 14 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. today at Dunsford Funeral Home, 201 E. Fifth Avenue, Augusta.
Burial will be in High Plains Cemetery in Smileyberg.
