Giving tree helps children

A longtime Goessel tradition will once again make Christmas bright for struggling families.

The Giving Tree program allows families to request Christmas gifts for children and those who want to brighten children’s Christmas an anonymous way to do so.

Loretta Wiens, working with the Goessel Ministerial Alliance on the project, is preparing tags with information about the children’s holiday wishes and their sizes to hang on the giving tree.

There will be 17 boys and 16 girls with tags on this year’s tree, she said.

Gifts will need to be turned in by Dec. 15 to distribute them to families, Wiens said.

The tree is at Citizen State Bank in Goessel.
