Goessel 4-H club meets
The Goessel Goal Getters 4-H Club met June 4 at Goessel Elementary School. The roll-call question was, “What are your plans for the summer?” There were 36 people present.
Play day is 1 to 5 p.m. June 30, with a theme of “At the Hop.” Members learned about the ambassador program being started for older members.
There are changes to the fair, including replacement of the hay bale decorating contest with a scarecrow contest and a new class for recycled clothing with a sewing part. There will also be a bedding fee for livestock this year.
A countywide 4-H Sunday event is planned for Oct. 7.
Club leaders discussed upcoming events and how selling raffle tickets to Kansas State University games and for half a hog can help the club as half the proceeds will go to the club.
Zach Duerksen gave a speech about his cat titled “The Attack of the Radioactive Hairballs.” Devin Gaddis gave a rocketry speech, “3, 2, 1, Blast off!” and Dustyn Gaddis spoke about “Super Salad.”
The club voted to continue highway trash pickup. The next meeting will be the club tour on June 23 with a potluck in the park.
