Five members of the Goessel and Hillsboro High School choirs were selected to perform as part of the Kansas Music Educators Association All-State Choir.
HHS student Olivia Kliewer and GHS students Josh Booth, Jeff Hall, Tyler Schulz, and Drake Sterk were selected following live, anonymous auditions Nov. 5 at Andover Central High School.
A panel of three judges listened to the students sing three selections without seeing them or having any identifying information about them. HHS vocal music director Lynn Just said several hundred students audition just in the South Central District.
The all-state choir will rehearse Feb. 23 to 25 at the KMEA Conference in Wichita and will perform Feb. 25 at Century II.
Additionally, HHS Concert Choir has been selected to perform at the conference. Other choirs so honored include the Kansas State University Men’s Choir, Bethany College Choir, and Hays High School Chamber Singers.
