Goessel Board of Education heard a presentation from Seth Martin of Loyd Builders regarding facility improvements Monday at the board of education meeting.
In the report, Martin reviewed the completed sewer relocation work performed by Stevenson Plumbing, and informed board members of the notable dates in the projects timetable.
Funk Electric was to be onsite Tuesday to begin trench-work that will contain rerouted electric lines, while McPherson Wrecking is set to begin demolition Thursday on a portion of the building that overlaps the footprint of the new addition, Superintendent John Fast said Tuesday.
The construction plan also currently includes S&H Steel for the manufacturing of skeletal metal framework, Fast said.
Bids for work are to be released Dec. 20, the due date for bids are Jan. 20, and in February the board is set to final bid approval.
In other business
- The board heard a presentation given by inter-related teacher Michael Weeks concerning his background and goals for his students.
- High School Principal Scott Boden gave a report on Student Council Activities, Work Ready certificates, and the possibility of a Wheat State League expansion was discussed, as were the pros and cons of the revival of a USD 411 cheerleading program due to recent student interest.
- The music department’s out-of-state trip to Dallas, Texas, was approved.
- Fast also gave a presentation on the Christmas Program, the Philippine relief effort, and Tabor Food Pantry efforts.
The next board meeting is set for Jan. 13.
