The Goessel boys were defeated at Northern Heights High School in Allen by a score of 62-33 on Monday night in the 2A sub-state.

Despite the season-ending loss, Goessel’s final 9-12 tally improved from last year’s 3-17 mark.

The Bluebirds were outscored in every quarter as the Wildcats defense disrupted Goessel’s offensive flow.

Goessel trailed 16-6 after the first and 31-16 at halftime.

The Wildcats capitalized on Bluebird turnovers in the third quarter, pushing the lead to 48-26 heading into the fourth quarter.

Scoring summary: Dylan Lindeman, 10 points; Jake Hiebert, 8; Drew Lindeman, 7; Jerah Schmidt, 4; Skyler Wuest, 2; Miguel Ballesta, 1; Jacob Hagewood, 1.

The Goessel girls’ basketball team ended its season Tuesday against top-seeded Wabaunsee, 58-24.
