Goessel boys take second overall at Norwich

The Goessel boys Thursday took second at Norwich with a strong performance that highlighted their versatility.
The team placed in 14 events, including two first-place finishes, but managed to do so with just eight athletes.
The girls continued a strong performance the relay events, taking third in the 4-by-400-meter, and fourth in both the 4-by-100-meter, and 4-by-800-meter.
Winning events for the Bluebirds were; Jerah Schmidt in both the 800-meter, and the 4-by-100- meter, and Elyse Boden in the 3200-meter.
Girls top finishers: 4-by-100-meter, fourth place, 58.49 seconds; 4-by-400-meter, third place, 4:58.64; 4-by-800-meter fourth place, 13:05.16; high jump, Elsie Clark T-second place, 4-feet-8-inches; 1600-meter, Boden second place, 6:48.90; 3200-meter, Boden first place, 14:13.20, Edel Miller fifth place, 16:32.54.
Boys top finishers: 4-by-100-meter, first place, 47.93 seconds; 4-by-400-meter sixth place, 4:06.20; 4-by-800-meter, second place, 9:32.92; high jump, Miguel Ballesta fourth place, 5-feet-4-inches; long jump Jacob Hagewood third place, 18-feet-4¼-inches; triple jump, Ballesta fifth place, 36-feet-5½-inches; 100-meter, Hagewood fifth place, 11.84 seconds; 110-meter-hurdles, Zackary Guerrero fifth place, 18.04 seconds; 300-meter-hurdles, Guerrero fourth place, 51.72 seconds; 800-meter, Jerah Schmidt first place, 2:14.46; 1600-meter, Nate Zogleman fourth place, 5:23.65; 3200-meter, Dawson Duerksen fifth place, 12:20.50.
