Girls lose to Moundridge

Goessel’s Dylan Lindeman and Drew Lindeman were named to the All-Tournament team at Burrton.
Dylan, a junior, scored 67 points in three games and Drew, a senior, dropped in 57 points. Goessel took fifth place with two wins.
Thursday afternoon, the Bluebirds led 17-15 at the end of first quarter, and trailed Pretty Prairie by three at halftime, but it was defense in the second half that turned the game around.
Goessel led 45-37 at the end of third quarter and added to their lead in the fourth, winning 59-41.
It didn’t hurt that Goessel shot 40 percent from the field and held Pretty Prairie to only eight points in the last two quarters.
Goessel ended a four-game skid with the victory.
Scoring summary — Drew Lindeman 23 points and 15 rebounds, Dylan Lindeman 23, Hiebert 6, Schmidt 4, Ballesta 2 and Zach Zogleman 1.
The Friday afternoon game pitted the Bluebirds against the home team Burrton Chargers.
The Chargers led 18-12 at the end of first quarter, but the Bluebirds began to dominate on the boards and surged to a 36-27 lead at halftime.
The Bluebird advantage continued to grow in the second half, with Goessel converting Burrton turnovers into points.
Goessel won 67-45, out-rebounding Burrton 50-25. The win put the Bluebirds at 5-7 on the year.
Scoring summary: Drew Lindeman 26 points and 11 rebounds, Dylan Lindeman 15, Ballesta 8, Schmidt 7, Hiebert 6, and Zogleman 5.
Girls
In a non-league contest Friday, Goessel girls succumbed to the Moundridge Wildcats 52-24.
Goessel trailed at the breaks 11-6, 30-16, 44-19 and 52-24.
The Bluebird girls are now 3-7 for the season.
The Goessel girls will play at the Berean tournament next week.
