In the first meet of the season Thursday for the Goessel High School cross country team, all competitors ran the two-mile race.
The Goessel athletes brought home several medals from the Clearwater races.
Not only did they earn “six medals, many runners improved their times over last year’s Clearwater race,” Bontrager said.
In the girls’ freshman/sophomore race, Shanna Klassen finished 26th out of 99 runners for her first medal.
Lindsey Wedel and Kristin Hoffman, both juniors, earned medals in the junior/senior division out of 92 runners.
In the boys’ races, Laird Goertzen and Lars Osland, both sophomores, medaled in the freshman/sophomore division out of 120 competitors, and Jared Reimer finished 12th out of 86 runners in the junior/senior group.
Thursday, the cross country teams will be in a large meet at Hesston.
