Goessel defeats Heat

Goessel churned out 350 yards of offense in a game that lasted three minutes into the third quarter. Junior Kale Funk dashed his way to three touchdowns as Goessel defeated the Rural Vista Heat 46-0.

Funk scored on running plays from 16 yards, five yards and 37 yards. Jacob Hageood ran for six yards to cap off a Bluebird drive in the second quarter and Dylan Lindeman connected with Luke Wiens for a 17-yard touchdown with less than two minutes left in the half.

The Bluebirds scored again, just before half time with a 60-yard pass from Lindeman to Caiden Duerksen, and Goessel led at the break 40-0.

The game ended by way of the 45-point rule, when Hagewood surged ahead from three yards to make the score 46-0.

Goessel recovered three Heat fumbles as Funk, Dylan Riley, Duerksen, Hagewood and Wiens led the team defensively.

Goessel (1-1) will play at Wakefield (0-2) on Friday.
