Goessel football loses last game

Staff writer

Goessel football played its last game of the season against top-ranked team district foe Central Plains High School at Claflin, and the Oilers defeated the Bluebirds 50-0.

Goessel trailed 28-0 at the end of the first quarter and the game ended at half time by virtue of the 45-point rule in eight-man football.

Goessel’s defense recovered one fumble, but the Oilers had too much firepower, scoring three touchdowns rushing and three touchdowns passing.

Five Goessel seniors slipped on the Bluebird uniform for the last time: Luke Unruh, Dakota Nolte, Jordan Schmucker, Chase Flaming, and Matt Regier.

The Bluebirds ended the season 1-4 in district play and 3-6 overall. Central Plains won the district and advanced to post season play.
