Hot, windy conditions met the cross-country teams Sept. 21 at Southeast of Saline. Laird Goertzen brought home 11th place for the Bluebirds and Brittny Czarnowsky earned 17th out of 71 runners.
Coach Derrick Birdsell described the course.
“(This was) the toughest course so far this season . . . the competition the stiffest to this point.”
There were 92 runners in the boys varsity meet. Czarnowsky finished in 17 minutes, 41.61 seconds in the girls’ race.

Marion meet
Torrential rain and wind met the Goessel runners Friday at Marion. Laird Goertzen just missed second place with a time of 18:24.74, earning third out of 51 runners. Brittany Czarnowsky set a personal record with her ninth-place finish among 30 runners.

Goessel will compete at Harvey County East Lake on Thursday on a flat course that should lead to some impressive times.
