GOESSEL: GHS volleyball team reaches 19 wins

In its only home weekday volleyball match of the season, Goessel improved the season record to 19-8. The Bluebirds defeated Solomon and Little River in two well-played matches.

In the first game against Solomon, Goessel got an early 5-1 lead and doubled the score on the Gorillas for much of the game winning, 25-12. In the second game, the Bluebirds led 16-14 but gradually pulled ahead to win 25-21.

Against Little River, Goessel trailed 5-4, but then went on a scoring rampage, forcing a Redskin timeout with a 17-11 lead. Goessel finished the game winning 25-21.

The Bluebirds dominated the second game, jumping out to a 13-2 lead and won, 25-15.

Kendra Flaming led the team with 10 kills, Jennifer Van Horn stretched for 11 blocks, Tia Goertzen led with 17 digs, and Aimee Flaming dished up 20 assists. Flaming was 20-of-20 serving with four aces.

The Bluebirds traveled to Little River on Tuesday for matches with Little River and Ellinwood.

On Saturday, Goessel will compete at Centre High School in the first Wheat State League Tournament.
