It was a slow start for both girls’ teams at Goessel on Friday night. After six minutes had been played, the game was still tied at 2 as the Bluebird defense was able to hold the favored Wildcats from scoring.
That pattern quickly changed as Moundridge began to rattle the younger Bluebirds into several turnovers and easy baskets. Moundridge led at the end of one quarter 10-2. The visitors expanded their lead to 27-6 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Moundridge exploded for 30 points as the Bluebird offense struggled to score. Goessel trailed 57-15 at the end of the third period. With a running clock in the fourth quarter, the game ended with a final score of Moundridge 60, Goessel 21.
The girls will be at the Eli Walter tournament at Berean Academy this week. The Goessel girls are now 3-6 for the season.
