The Goessel girls’ basketball team continued its dominance of early-season foes Friday with a 61-25 win over Pretty Prairie.
The Bluebirds jumped out to a 20-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and enjoyed a 42-13 lead at halftime.
Goessel led 55-20 after three periods and, with a running clock in the fourth quarter, the game ended with a final score 61-25.
The Bluebirds accumulated 20 steals and outrebounded the Bulldogs 29-17.
Aleena Cook led the Bluebirds with 16 points and 7 steals. Page Hiebert dropped in 11 points and Eden Hiebert scored 10. Olivia Duerksen and Alicen Meysing scored 6 points each.
The Bluebirds stifled the offense of Peabody-Burns on Jan. 5 with a 63-17 win.
The Bluebirds were ranked second in 1A-Division 1 in Monday’s Kansas Basketball Coaches Association poll. They are 7-0 overall and 2-0 in Wheat State League play. They faced league foe Centre on Tuesday, and will play Wakefield on Friday.
