The distance runners thought the weather was perfect April 20 with a little wind and cool temperatures, and the team winning its home meet.

Brittny Czarnowski, Aspen Frey, and Karina Harvey ran their best times of the season and earned first place in the 3200-meter, 1600-meter, and 800-meter races, respectively.

Kendra Flaming brought home gold in the 400-meter dash. Frey also won the javelin with the best throw of her career. The 4x400 relay team, in spite of being the only team on the track, put together a quality time. The 4x800 relay team also earned eight points with a first-place finish.

The girls team had 105 points, giving them first out of five teams.

The Goessel girls finished second Friday at the Norwich High School invitational track, competing against 12 schools.

They earned 99 points.

The Bluebirds will participate Tuesday at Marion to reach the halfway point of the track season.
