Goessel girls win league track meet
Senior Erin Brubaker ran her last races on the Bluebirds track Thursday, picking up second place in 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles, as Goessel won the Wheat State League title.
Brubaker also took fourth in high jump and ran in the 4x400 relay along with Olivia Duerksen, Lauren Rymill and Brittney Hiebert for third place.
Hiebert scored wins in the 400, 800, and 1,600. Aleena Cook captured first in pole vault and third the 100 and 200. Duerksen finished second in high jump and fourth in long jump. Jennifer Meysing led eight laps to win the 3,200 and finished fourth in triple jump. Coral Mitchell placed second in pole vault. In the 1600, Rachel Manis took third and Julia Nightengale finished fifth. Rymill picked up fifth place in long jump.
In relays, the 4x800 team of Maxine Keyse, Heidi Sandres, Elna Wesener, and Maddy Meier placed second, as did the 4x100 team of Kara Burkholder, Rymill, Duerksen and Cook.
