Goessel golfers come on strong

Coach Justin Coup was pleased with the performance of the Goessel High School golf team May 3, as the Bluebirds captured second place as a team at the Marion County tournament.
Trey Schmidt had a blistering 36 on the first nine and finished in second individually with a total score of 81. Shane Goerzen’s 89 was good enough for seventh place individually. Neal Brubaker picked up the last individual medal for the Bluebirds at 15th place, shooting a 92. Davis Cook dropped in a 94. Jake Smucker was right behind at 95 and Braden Unruh finished with a 102.
The Bluebirds were at Hesston on Monday in a challenge tournament between the Wheat State League and the Heart of the Plains League. They placed second.
