The Goessel community and school district will celebrate a milestone Sept. 27, when Goessel Grade School celebrates its 50th anniversary.
A public open house will be 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 27 and will include storytelling and time to reminisce.
The program will include a panel of former teachers, staff, and students.
There will be a historical timeline, articles, and photographs on display.
Refreshments will be served. According to USD 411 Superintendent John Fast, the school opened in fall of 1959.
Since then, there have been two additions to the building — three classrooms, a music room, and lockers in the mid-1960s and four classrooms in the mid-1990s.
“We will continue to modernize and expand as needed,” Fast said.
