Brittny Czarnowsky again lowered her time in the 4-kilometer cross-country race Sept. 9 at Hesston. Goessel’s only girl on the team finished the race in 17 minutes, 48 seconds taking more than a minute off her personal best a week earlier. Czarnowsky earned a seventh-place medal in the girls race of the junior class.
At the Swather cross-country meet, all grades ran in separate races. Laird Goertzen, Goessel’s only senior, completed the course in 18:30, earning 11th-place out of 39 runners.
Sophomores Grant Flaming and Garrett Woelk finished in 22:33.38 and 29:11.00, respectively. Freshmen Nathan Czarnowsky came in eighth and Ben Wiens followed in 21st. Both of these first-year runners improved their times from last week. Nathan Czarnowsky finished in 20:48.36 and Wiens, 23:24.28.
