It was a dominating performance on Tuesday, as the Goessel volleyball team took care of business and started the season 3-0. The Bluebirds traveled to Brookville and met Elyria Christian in the first match. Goessel won easily 25-3, 25-6.
In the second match, the Lady Lions from Hope put up a bit of resistance in the first game, but the Bluebirds settled the match in two games 25-12, 25-5.
The evening ended with a win against the host school, Ell-Saline 25-8, 25-16.
Goessel was aggressive in serving, accomplishing 38 aces in the six games. Karis Janzen led the team in kills and blocks with 22 and 11, respectively.
Jessica Goertzen, Goessel’s setter, led the team in serving with 43 of 45 good serves and 15 aces. In other action at Brookville, Ell-Saline beat Hope and Elyria, and Elyria defeated Hope.
“This was a good start to the season,” Head Coach Crysta Guhr said. Goessel played at Bennington Tuesday and will host the Bluebird Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.
