Goessel’s team score of 422 earned fourth place among seven golf teams April 7 at Herington.

Lawton Makovec earned an eighth place individual medal with a score of 94.

“This is the score I thought Lawton would have in the middle of the season,” coach Chad Lindeman said. 

Lucas Hiebert turned in a 102 and Rhett Makovec, in his first varsity meet, turned in a 106. 

Kellen Froese ended with 120, and Luke Unruh finished with 137. 

Hillsboro Invitational

The Bluebirds came back to shoot 20 strokes better than their first meet and take third place as a team with a score of 402 at Hillsboro on Friday.

They finished 25 strokes behind Halstead, who took second, and 45 strokes behind Chapman, who placed first.

Makovec again led the Bluebirds, placing eighth individually logging 96 strokes over 18 holes.

Hiebert followed in 14th place with a score of 99. Rhett Makovec shot 101 to come in 17th, Froese scored 106 to place 26th, and Unruh came in 41st with 135.
