Goessel golfers earn second

Staff writer

The Bluebird golf team traveled to Minneapolis April 13 for a competition.

“The team was introduced to the Kansas winds, with gusts over 50 mph,” coach Justin Coup said.

But instead of being intimidated, two of Goessel’s golfers lowered their score from the previous week and the four-man team took home second place.

Tyler Schmidt shot an 82 and took home second place, Hayden Goerzen scored 86 and earned sixth place, and Neal Brubaker garnered seventh place with a score of 91. Aaron Reimer came in with 102, Jake Smucker hit 103, and Austin Cooper was right behind with 105.

The team score was 361 and only one higher than the previous week, which thrilled the coach.

“Considering the conditions, this was a better overall performance than the week before,” Coup said.
