Goessel golfers keep improving

Staff writer

Goessel’s Coach Chad Lindeman decided to take four players to Herington for the first varsity golf meet of the season on Tuesday.

Two seniors, a junior and a freshman combined for scores that earned fourth place out of six teams. Dylan Lindeman captured par on four holes and finished with a score of 95 for the sixth place individual medal.

Freshman Caiden Duerksen came to the clubhouse with a 119 score and Kendall Hiebert was right behind with 120. Christopher Strecker posted as score of 147.

Nine schools participated, but only six teams had enough players to tally points for team scores. Goessel finished ahead of Hillsboro and Remington.

With perfect weather Friday, each of the Goessel golfers improved their scores at the Hillsboro Invitational Golf tournament.

Lindeman hit 91 and finished in fourth place. Duerksen came in 13th with a score of 102, Hiebert improved 13 strokes for a 107, and Alyssa Burkholder played in her first varsity meet and carded 117, Strecker ended with 126.

The Bluebirds finished in second place, behind only St. John Military. The Bluebirds will be at Carey Park in Hutchinson on April 8.
