Goessel’s Zach Wiens will participate in two hurdle events at the state track meet in Wichita on Friday. He won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.14 second at the regional meet Friday and secured his best time of the season in the 300-meter hurdles, 43.96, for third place.

A season-best time of 3:45.08 in the 4x400 relay earned second place and a state berth for Wiens, Freddie Scheffe, Zach Zogleman, and Josh Schmidt.

Freshman Stephany Meyer qualified in three individual events. She hit her best mark of the season in triple jump, 33 feet, 9.75 inches, for third place; ran her fastest lap of the season in the 400 for fourth place; and she earned third place in long jump with a leap of 15-8.75.

However, it was Brittney Hiebert who finished with two first-place finishes in the 400 and 800. She finished the 400 in 1:04.30, and the 800 in 2:34.86.

The girls 4x400 relay team of Meyer, Olivia Duerksen, Lauren Rymill, and Hiebert earned second place with a time of 4:30.33. Duerksen also earned a spot at state with a high jump of 4-6 for third place.
