Goessel robotics team competes

Goessel’s Junior High Robotics sent six teams to Manhattan April 10 to compete in the Kansas Robotics League competition.

Eighty-seven teams participated in competitions, which included a maze, capture the flag, sumo bots, sumo wrestling, math, logic, time management, creative problem solving, teamwork sportsmanship, communications, patience, and perseverance.

Participants included Jake Herrell, Lucas Hiebert, Chase Flaming, Mark Schmidt, Alicen Meysing, Ben Wiens, Aaron Woelk, Ashley Heibert, Jordan Schmucker, Luke Unruh, and Zach Wiens. The Goessel team of Aaron Woelk and Ashley Heibert finished first in the advanced division competition of King of the Hill. Coaches were Sherri Sells, Marion County ELP, Facilitator, and Dale Wiens, a teacher and parent.
