Goessel runners improve times

Cooler temperatures and light winds greeted the Cross Country team at Harvey County East Lake on Thursday. Every runner on the Goessel team ran their fastest time of the season. Dawson Duerksen broke the 20-minute barrier with a time of 19:45.4 to lead the Bluebirds.
Jerah Schmidt and Nate Impson followed close behind with times of 20:03.8 and 20:19.3 respectively. Noah Regier (20:52.9) and Zack Guerrero (21:43.8) rounded out the scoring for the Bluebird boys.
Julia Nightengale led the Bluebird girls’ team with her best race of the year, finishing in 23:14.1 for the 16th place medal. Elyse Boden missed a medal by one place, but crossed the finish line in 23:48.7. Cassandra Rust, Porclein Unruh, and Maddy Meier helped with the team scores as they had finishes 25:25.80, 25:36.20, and 26:44.70 respectively; all season-best times.
Goessel will race at Harvey County West Park on Thursday.
