Goessel's season ends in playoff loss

Goessel ended the season with a 5-4 record, which improved on last year, and advanced into the playoff bracket by placing third of six teams in the district.

Thursday’s game at Lebo was not how the Bluebirds wanted the season to end. With a strong running game, Lebo averaged 8.2 yards per carry and scored four unanswered touchdowns in the first quarter grabbing a 28-0 lead.

Goessel only punted one time, but turned the ball over four times when trying to convert fourth downs.

The Wolves racked up a 50-0 lead with 4:31 to play in the second quarter.

Dylan Lindeman connected with Jacob Hagewood for a 47-yard pass play and the extra points were good on a Lindeman to Caiden Duerksen pass, cutting the deficit to 42 points, 50-8.

However, Lebo needed 26 seconds to score again, winning the game 58-8 at the end of two quarters.

The Bluebirds averaged 10.4 yards on eight passes, but only managed 2.5 yards on 20 rushing attempts.
