Goessel sends 25 to state honor ensembles
Various statewide honor music ensembles selected 25 Goessel students as members.
Six high school students were chosen to perform in the Kansas Music Educators Association Statewide Class 1234A Honor Band or Statewide Honor Choir. A seventh student was selected as a band alternate.
Eight students in grades seven, eight, and nine have been chosen to participate in the KMEA All-State Middle Level Choir. Another 10 sixth-graders and four seventh-graders were selected to perform as members of the Kansas Choral Directors Assocation State Treble Choir.
All of the groups performed at the KMEA in-service workshop Feb. 25-27 in Wichita.
Students qualify for the ensembles by auditioning. Of 11,000 students that began the audition process in the fall, only 900 were selected to the ensembles, band director Mike Connell said.
