Goessel track squad takes 3rd at home meet

Boys take 12th, girls place 10th in Marion Relays

Goessel High School track placed third of six teams on April 7 at home Central Kansas Track League. Hesston and Peabody who came in first and second respectively.

Zach Wiens led the Goessel boys. He took first place in the 110-meter hurdles and fourth place in the 300-meter hurdles. 

Miguel Guererro finished third in long jump and third in triple jump. 

Wiens and Guererro were both in the 4x400 relay, which finished second.

Guererro also contributed to team points in the 4x100 relay, which finished second. 

Chase Flaming finished third in the shot put and fourth in the 100-meter dash. 

Flaming participated in the second place 4x100 relay.

Girls earn medals

Several members of the Goessel girls’ team also earned medals. Sedgwick edged Goessel out of second place by one point, and Hesston took first place.

Brittney Hiebert was the only Bluebird to capture first place for the girls.  She won the 800-meter run, and came in second in the 1,600. 

Olivia Duerksen finished second in high jump and third in the long jump. 

Aleena Cook captured second in the pole vault and fifth in the 100-meter dash. 

Jennifer Meysing took second place in the 3,200 and third place in triple jump.

Kara Burkholder secured third place in javelin and sixth place in shot put. 

Coral Mitchell and Rachel Manis each earned a third place in pole vault and 1,600 respectively. 

The Bluebird girls had three different relay teams come in second place.

Marion Relays

In a larger meet on Friday, the Bluebird boys came in 12th place in the Marion Relays.

The boys earned fifth place three events.

The Goessel girls finished 10th overall at the same meet.

Brittney Hiebert earned third place in the 1,600.

Olivia Duerksen to take third place.

Goessel will compete at Buhler on Tuesday.
