Goessel volleyball places second in Canton tournament

The Goessel volleyball team traveled to Canton and came away with a second place plaque Saturday.
In the early match, the Bluebirds defeated Little River for the second time this year, 25-16, 25-20.
The Bluebirds slipped past Sunrise Christian in the second match, winning 27-25, 25-16.
Goessel faced off with Solomon for the final match in pool play. They lost to the Gorillas in three sets, 24-26, 30-28, 16-25.
In the semi-final match, the Bluebirds faced the host for the fourth time of the season.
Goessel won the first set 25-14. They lost their concentration, dropping the second set 20-25, before dominating the final set 25-13.
The Bluebirds advanced to the finals against Halstead. It was a nail-biter in the first set and Goessel deflated the Dragons 26-24. Mistakes plagued the Bluebirds in the final sets as Halstead coasted to a 25-19 win, followed by a 25-8 win.
