Goessel volleyball wins two

The Bluebird girls came home from Brookville with two wins and a loss after Tuesday’s matches at Ell-Saline. Goessel defeated Hope, 25-19, in the first set of the season and coasted to a win with a score of 25-9 to take their first match of the year. The Bluebirds lost to the host Cardinals, 25-16 and 25-22, to lose their first match of the year. Goessel then got back on top against Elyria Christian winning 25-10 and 25-19.
Tia Goertzen and Alex Hiebert led the team in kills with 12 and 10, respectively. Jessica Harvey and Aimee Flaming both dished out 17 assists. Johanna Hoffman accumulated 32 digs and D’Ambra Kruger hit her stride with seven service aces for the three matches. Flaming, Goertzen, and Paige Booton each served successfully 95 percent of the time, combining for six aces. The team served a total of 26 aces for the three matches.
The Bluebirds are now 2-1 for the season. They had a home match Tuesday. Goessel hosts the Bluebird Invitational Saturday.
