A benefit golf tournament and silent auction for Thane Hurst will be July 25 at Hillsboro Municipal Golf Course.
Thane is the 15-year-old son of Tim and Ginger Hurst of Hillsboro, and an avid golfer, playing as a member of the Hillsboro High School team.
He was diagnosed in May with a rare form of spinal cancer. He already has had one surgery with another planned in the coming months. This fund-raiser will help the family offset expenses associated with the surgery.
The three-man scramble will begin at 8 a.m. Registration is $120 per team. Prizes will be awarded to winners. Lunch will be served following the tournament.
During and after the tournament, items will be on display in the clubhouse for a silent auction.
All proceeds will benefit the Hurst family.
