Golfers compete in tourney

Trojan golfers competed Friday in the Marion County golf tournament, a 36-hole event, at golf courses in Marion and Hillsboro.
Golfers played 18 holes at Marion Country Club in the morning, ate lunch, and played another 18 holes in the afternoon at Hillsboro Municipal Golf Course.
The Trojans did not place as a team in the tournament, but they came in eighth in the Hillsboro portion of the event with a score of 408. At Marion, they did not have enough players finish the round to place as a team.
Individually, Elias Werth placed 29th out of 49 players with a score of 192. He scored a 101 at Marion and a 93 at Hillsboro.
Colin Settle came in 36th with a score of 203. He shot a 100 at Marion and a 103 at Hillsboro.
Philip Ediger placed 42nd with a 220. He shot a 107 at Marion and a 113 at Hillsboro.
Elliot Ollenburger shot a 99 at Hillsboro. However, he did not complete the Marion course.
Halstead
Trojan golfers placed seventh out of eight teams May 5 at a tournament in Halstead with a team score of 432 strokes.
They missed sixth place by 20 strokes and 5th place by 24 strokes.
Individually, Werth and Ollenburger placed in the top 20 with scores of 104 and 105. Werth was 19th and Ollenburger was 20th.
Ediger shot a 110, Alex Dalke shot a 113, and Settle shot a 118.
The Traojans tee off next on Tuesday at regionals.
