Marion County Conservation District has funds available for those Marion County residents whose household wastewater systems are failing because of age or wet weather.
According to Betty Richmond, district manager, homeowners with failing wastewater systems that meet the criteria may be eligible to receive cost share funds to replace their current systems.
Funds are available through the Non Point Cost Share Program funded by the state.
The sign-up period begins Thursday and ends Nov. 21 for 2008 funds. The next sign-up period will be in June 2009, for the new program year.
Other practices eligible for cost share payments under the NPS program include plugging abandoned water wells and livestock wastewater systems.
