Herman M. Lovett, 87, died April 17 in Wichita.
He was born July 9, 1925 in Leech, Okla., the son of Monroe and Bessie Hoopengarner Lovett.
Herman was a Navy veteran who served in World War II. He worked for Boeing in Wichita, as a road maintainer in Oklahoma, and for the city of Florence for nine years.
He is survived by wife, Vernal of Florence; stepson, William Rodden of Denver, Colo.; sons, Edsel of Augusta and Herman Jr. of Lawrence; a daughter, Linda Kay Bean of Houston, Texas; a brother, Joe of Sacramento, Calif.; three sisters, Faye Rader of Tulsa, Okla., Bessie Cooley of Sacramento, Calif., and Dollie Lou Rapp of Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
The funeral was 2 p.m. Monday at Zeiner Funeral Home in Florence. Interment followed at Hillcrest Cemetery with military rites.
A memorial has been established with the American Legion Post in Florence.
