HHS musicians earn high marks at league festival
Hillsboro High School singers received a mix of I and II ratings at Mid-Central Activities Association Vocal Contest at Bethel College in Newton. A I rating is the best rating judges can award.
The concert choir received one I and two II ratings. Mixed chorus earned three II ratings. Girls glee received an unanimous I rating. Men’s glee earned one I and two II ratings. Spirit-N-Celebration, SNC Women, SNC Men, and sophomore girls ensembles each received I ratings.
Soloists Dylan Delk, Nick Ediger, Samantha Ens, Erika Just, Evan Just, Elise Heyen, Daniel Kenney, Olivia Kliewer, Luke Moore, Hayley Pankratz, Krista Reimer, Manda Roble, Nathan Vogel, and Matt Wiebe received I ratings. Amy Bartel, Tyler Burst, and Matt Richert received II ratings.
Kliewer and Brenna Blackketter sang in the KMEA All-State Honor Choir Feb. 27 in Wichita. Erin Loewen sang in the Kansas Music Educators Association Middle Level Honor Choir Feb. 26.
Heyen received a I rating at state piano festival.
