HHS students seek service opportunities

Staff writer

Hillsboro High School Student Council has chosen May 2 as a day for students and teachers to work together in community service activities, and Student Council President Courtney Weber is asking local businesses for input for service opportunities.

“The student council wanted to check with all of the businesses to see if they had something for students to do,” Weber said.

Students and staff will be working in the community May 2 during the afternoon, and council members have already generated a number of ideas for service activities. They would welcome more from the community, Weber said.

“We want to make this day a success by splitting up the students with faculty and having many different places for the groups to work,” Weber said.

Businesses who are interested in providing service opportunities for the event should contact student council sponsor Stuart Holmes with the number of students they have work for on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays between 2 and 3 p.m. at (620) 947-3991.
