Hillsboro High School tennis singles players Grant Shewey and Harry Faber each earned second-place finishes April 10 at Sterling.
No. 1 singles player Shewey defeated Collin Martin of Hesston, 8-5, and Tommy Tripp of Elssworth, 8-1. Shewey lost to first place winner Edo Martelli of Sterling, 8-0.
No. 2 singles player Faber defeated Taylor Fair of Sterling, 8-3, and Kyeeton Soukup of Ellsworth, 8-2. Faber lost to first place winner Isaac Penner of Hesston, 8-5.
“Grant and Harry continue to be especially competitive as both were 2-1 on the day,” head coach Stuart Holmes said. “Everyone continues to improve — for some it just means winning more games in their matches.”
