Hillsboro boys track takes third

Hillsboro boys track and field placed third overall Friday at their home invitational.

Wes Shaw and Josiah Driggers continued their strong seasons, taking top marks in two events each.

They weren’t the only ones who performed well, with the boys taking home nine medals, and the girls matching that number.

The girls didn’t net any gold medals, but they had three athletes in the top three for different events, which helped place the team in sixth overall.

Girls top finishers: shot put, Jessica Saunders fifth place, 35-feet-10-inches; discus, J. Saunders second place, 122-feet-7-inches, Emersyn Funk fourth place, 98-feet-7-inches; javelin, Addie Berens third place, 115-feet, J. Saunders fourth place, 107-feet-1-inch; high jump, Iris Klein sixth place, 4-feet-8-inches; long jump, Kinsey Kleiner fourth place, 15-feet-11¼-inches; triple jump, Sammie Saunders third place, 32-feet-1½-inches; 400-meter, Eva Franz sixth place, 1:06.95.

Boys top finishers: 4-by-800, sixth place, 9:14.93; shot put, Wes Shaw first place, 60-feet-4-inches; discus, Shaw, first place, 176-feet-2-inches; long jump, Josiah Driggers first place, 21-feet-11-inches; high jump, Carson Linnens fifth place, 5-feet-8-inches; triple jump, Driggers first place, 44-feet-1½-inches, Linnens second place, 42-feet-9-inches; javelin, Cole Kaufman fifth place, 131-feet-1-inch; pole vault, Nate Hein second place, 12-feet; 1600-meter, Caleb Diener fourth place, 4:58.80.
