Hillsboro FCCLA wins awards

Hillsboro Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) received awards at the Fall Leadership Conference Oct. 28 in Marion. Hillsboro was among 21 schools at the conference.

The chapter was presented Honor Chapter and Community Service awards. In addition, Hillsboro raised the most money for Children’s Miracle Network. The organization provides funds for children’s hospitals and medical research.

Sheltered Reality presented an inspirational message and drumline performance, FCCLA sponsor Monica Leihy said.

Students participated in leadership workshops and sessions. Chapter members Cory Abbott, Sierra Benda, Ashley Brandt, Taylor Carlson, Katie Claassen, Megan Chizek, Katelyn Croft, Rhiannon Janzen, Kurtis Klein, Meredith Lamkin, Lexie Kruse, Rachel MacKenzie, Maranda Simheiser, Ashlyn Simmons, Brandi Swanson, Moriah Truitt, Amber Williams, and Allister Young attended the conference.
