Hillsboro FFA stays busy

The Hillsboro FFA livestock judging team placed second in South Central District competition April 16 at Aggie Days in Hutchinson. Team members were SaRae Roberts, Jessie Meier, Bryce Roberts, and Lauren Geis. Geis placed first individually, and Bryce Roberts placed seventh.

Roberts served as the south central district secretary and helped preside over the district banquet April 22 in Newton.

Recognized for winning district proficiency awards were Geis, equine proficiency; Roberts, sheep proficiency; and Nathan Unruh, diversified crop and beef production proficiency. All three received state FFA degrees and will be recognized at the end of May at the state convention.

A group of FFA members took animals to Parkside Homes on Thursday. Kale Arnold and Taylor Carlson brought goats and a dairy calf, Lauren and Lisa Geis brought a miniature horse and pig, Roberts shared lambs, and Unruh shared chickens.
